The Speakers' Bureau Program was formed to help educate the general
public about issues and concerns of the Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual,
Transgender, Questioning, and Intersex Community and their parents,
allies, and friends.
We are an all volunteer group dedicated to openness about ourselves,
our relationships, and our community. This is our way of combating
misconceptions, stereotypes and fears (homophobia/transphobia).
Our volunteers come from every walk and description of life,; from
various cultural, ethnic, socioeconomic, political, military,
religious backgrounds, and age groups.
We discuss our lives openly - giving insight on growing up Gay in a
straight society. We share our relationships, legal struggles,
parenting, politics and activism. Our parents share their feelings
about having Gay Lesbian children.
Speaking Out is available for panel discussions during both day and
evening. Special groups and topics can be requested.
If you are interested in requesting a panel/speakers or
volunteering please contact us (see above).

Reaching the public and youth….
From the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services-1989
LGBTQI youth are three times more likely to attempt suicide.
30% of completed youth suicide are LGBTQI youth.
26% of LGBTQI youth are forced to leave home due to conflicts over
their sexual identity.
As you can see by the statistics, it is important to dispel the myths
and fears around homosexuality, expecialy for youth and their peers.
We feel that speaking and educating is an important feature that
Community Link offers to the public. We hope you will take advantage
of this program and contact us.
