Rainbow Bowling League is Community Link's newest project. It started in October 2007 as a way of keeping recreational activities going in the fall and winter, when it's too cold for our Queer Volleyball games outside.

Additionally, since 2010 we decided to hold RBL's Summer Edition as an alternative to volleyball. Now you can choose between the two! And if you don't want to give up on volleyball, come bowling in the fall and winter!

The league is always looking for players! We play weekly on Thursdays at 7pm at AMF Sierra Lanes, 6450 N Blackstone Ave in Fresno. Games cost $14 a week.

The next Winter League will start in September, 2013 and will end some time in March 2014.

We need players who can commit to being there every week as well as substitute players for teams. Please call Rich at the number above if you're interested.

Bowl-A-Thon is an annual fundraiser, which started in 2000. We reserve several lanes on third Sunday in August just for teams from our LGBT community and have a big party with themes such as "Beach Party", "Wig Out!" and "Halloween". There's a big raffle, costumes, trophies and surprises! Since it's a fundraiser for Community Link, teams are asked to donate a minimum amount of money to participate.

While teams are almost always local to Fresno, we were thrilled to have Visalia Rainbowlers send a large team in 2008, and the Visalia Lions Pride Club even more bowlers in 2010!

We’re Baaack!
Fall Bowl-A-Thon

Sunday, September 29th from 2pm to 4pm
at Sierra Lanes, 6450 N. Blackstone in Fresno, CA.

While the Bowl-A-Thon is an afternoon of fun, it is also a major fundraiser for Community Link (incl. Fresno
Gay Pride and the Gay Youth Group.)
Each team’s buy-in is a MINIMUM $25 donation per team. Teams are made up between 3-4 bowlers each. The challenge and competition is in see which team's contribution is the highest!
While we receive all of the donated money, the bowling alley still wants theirs - for the shoes and the games, so each team is required to cover the $60 fee that Sierra Lanes charges us, which includes shoes and unlimited bowling for the two hour period (per lane).
Yes, this is a price increase from the years past, but since Cedar Lanes has closed, our only options are Sierra Lanes or Rodeo Lanes in Clovis, and they’re both owned by the same corporation (AMF). The only game in town gets to set the prices. Boy, how we miss Cedar Lanes!
As always, there will be trophies for the Best Bowling Outfit, Most Original Team Name, Best Game, Most Genetically Challenged, and the Top Strikers - a special award to the team that brings in the most money.

Here is what you need to do:

1. Get your team together.

2. Reserve your teams’s spot below - we are reserving the lanes as teams sign up. This year we have 10 lanes reserved.

3. Each team needs to make a donation of a minimum of $25 per team to Community Link. BUT, remember that the team that donates the most gets the special trophy for TOP STRIKERS! BRING THE DONATION WITH YOU!

4. Pay your $60 fee below (use PayPal; the total will be $62.15 including PayPal's fees) to the bowling alley for your team’s lane and shoes.
YOU MAY ALSO SEND IN YOUR $60 CHECK MADE OUT TO "COMMUNITY LINK" (include your phone # and e-mail in a note) VIA MAIL TO:
Community Link's Bowlathon, PO Box 4959, Fresno, CA 93744.
We have to have your check in hand by Friday, September 27th.

5. Get to Sierra Lanes on Sunday, September 29th before 2:00 pm. NOW bowl and have fun!
